Challenge

The site was operational but had several technical problems, including flawed filters, duplicate pages, and missing canonical tags.

On top of the technical problems, there was no content strategy aligned with their ICP.

Their main goal was to capture more impression share and traffic across the identified search areas, targeting users planning a trip to the area.

Work

We cleaned up the architecture and strengthened the technical foundation. From there, the strategy targeted competitive search areas directly linked to their ICP (destination and activities content, area queries, etc.), with a main focus on German buyers visiting the area. I built custom AI workflows to scale briefs, content, and translation. The same content layer was structured so that AI search engines could retrieve it, which led to a sharp rise in Bing AI citations.

Results

After six months:

  • AI citations (Bing): 1–3/day → 50–70/day, with peaks of 120. ~4K citations in total across the period.
  • Clicks doubled: 4.3K → 8.62K (+100%)
  • Impressions: 191K → 378K (+98%)
  • Average position: 13.5 → 8.1
  • German traffic: 1,056 → 2,725 (+158%)
